Lead Service Technician

The team at Valor Mechanical is looking for a motivated individual who is ready to manage and mentor our service technicians while being a liaison between the service team and the leadership group. If you’re ready to lead an exemplary team of multi-skilled technicians while helping train and mentor new hires, we want you to apply for our Lead Service Technician position.

Job description:

  • Full-time | M-F | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. | On-Call not Required
  • Works independently, but also follows specific guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Leads, trains, and mentors the next generation of Service Technicians
  • Collaborates with the leadership team to ensure a positive working environment for the service department.
  • Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs systems and products at the clients’ locations.
  • Provides preventative maintenance and repairs for commercial HVAC systems.
  • Repairs and maintains refrigeration and electrical systems.
  • Diagnoses and repairs electrical, mechanical, and control components of different systems.
  • Performs sales consultations with clients as the need arises.

Qualifications (applicants MUST meet all criteria):

  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • A moral and ethical mindset in line with the values of Valor Mechanical.
  • Possess an eagerness to continue to learn best technical practices and advance in the HVAC industry while teaching these practices to lesser experienced technicians.
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure team success between leadership and field technicians.
  • Certification through the Environmental Protection Agency to handle refrigerants.
  • Valor provides all major equipment, but the applicant must own the hand tools necessary to complete work.
  • Ability to handle hazardous materials with proper safety equipment, and have knowledge of OSHA and other employee safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of residential and commercial services in the HVAC industry.
  • Experience in the areas of chillers, refrigeration, and controls is a plus.
  • Exceptional people skills and ability to self-motivate/multi-task.
  • Computer skills include the ability to operate a phone, tablet/workbook, and computer (use of Microsoft Excel, time tracking programs, etc).
  • Aptitude to complete timely and accurate daily work reports (notes, timecards, in-field billings).

  • Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs systems and products at client’s location.
  • Provides preventative maintenance and repairs for HVAC systems.
  • Repairs and maintains refrigeration and electrical systems.
  • Diagnoses and repairs electrical, mechanical, and control components of different systems.
  • Inspects units for effectiveness and safety.
  • Installs new heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
  • Performs consultations with clients.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, site surveys, and modifications as needed or requested by clients.

Qualifications (applicants MUST meet all criteria):

  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • A moral and ethical mindset in line with the values of Valor Mechanical.
  • 5-10 years of HVAC technician experience. Other licenses/certificates will be considered (plumbing, backflow, repair, low voltage, gas, boiler, refrigeration card, DOT, equipment start-up).
  • Certification through the Environmental Protection Agency to handle refrigerants.
  • Hand tools necessary to complete work.
  • Ability to handle hazardous materials with proper safety equipment, and have knowledge of OSHA and other employee safety regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of residential and commercial services in the areas of chillers, refrigeration, HVAC, controls, boilers (steam, water, & electric), water conditioning, water heaters, pumps, and electrical components.
